River of Flowers is a community based project dedicated to preserving wild flowers in urban environments.

In our cities, wildflowers are disappearing where natural meadows and woodland are being replaced by concrete ad tarmac; our unique heritage of wildflowers is under threat. The River of Flowers is a movement that aims to preserve and promote wildflowers in cities by creating a 'river' of wildflowers that will one day encircle the world. Today is the start of National Tree Week! The Tree Council is encouraging all of us to plant a tree in our own gardens, workplaces, schools and parks, in order to provide habitats for wildlife and help moderate the climate. 25 November - 6 December 2009

First mounted in 1975, National Tree Week is UK's largest tree celebration annually launching the start of the winter tree planting season.
